I don´t review beauty products based on a sniff of the bottle, or a one-time test.
That would not be a results-based review, but a “how it looks and feels” recount.
When buying an anti-aging cream what I really want to know is whether it really works – that is – does it deliver what it promises
So, when you read my reviews, know that I´ve used the product for at least a month in most cases. Fifteen days, if I saw results by then.
Also, take into account that I am 48, which will also affect the way my skin responds.
If you are younger, then you may not need the treatment I´ve tested, and if you are older, then the results may not be as apparent, or could take longer.
Immunocologie´s cream VenoMAX ™
I´ve tested Immunocologie´s cream VenoMAX ™ for a month now, to the exclusion of any other skin-care product, and here are my findings.
Product claims:
- Contains anti-inflammatory ingredients, based on a complex that has an effect similar to snake venom activity.
- Instantly smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles
- Protects skin from chronic inflammation
- Antimicrobial
- Immediate brightening effect
- Evens out skin tone and erases the effects of sun damage
Note that this is under product claims – it does not mean I believe it actually does that – at this stage of the review, anyhow.
How it should be applied:
Apply a thin layer to face, neck and chest area, morning and night.
How it worked out for me:
As a sun worshipper in my youth, I have sun-spots that I´ve treated with Retin-A (successfully, I may add, but Retin-A does have the side effect of photosensitivity, which means that if you expose your skin to the sun after using it, you are more likely to suffer further damage, even worse than if you had not used Retin-A).
Being close to 50, my skin already has fine wrinkles and uneven tone.
The claims of instant brightening effects are true. But only in the sense that it seems to contain light-diffusing ingredients. So, when you apply it, yes, your skin does look brighter. I cannot say it immediately erases fine lines. Mine are still there, and I really did not expect them to disappear.
As for the long-term results, I can say that my tone is more even and I do feel that the skin on my face seems to look more supple (not so my neck, which continues to sag because of gravity and loss of elasticity, thank you very much!).
I used to use foundation on a daily basis, and now I often forget to apply it because my skin does look and feel healthier: no blotches, less discoloration and not so many sun-spots. I do have a glow that I did not have before.
The downside
I have enjoyed testing the product. Now, get ready for the downside: a 50 ml jar costs $275!
Of course, there are products out there such as Créme de la Mer, that is $260 for the same size, and that I find to be eerily similar to Nivea, which is just a few dollars at the drugstore.
Also next to Sisley´s all day-all year cream at $398 (which I have not tested), suddenly $275 seems like a steal!
This is clearly not a product for the regular mujer on a budget, but, would I recommend Immunocologie´s Treatment Creme VenoMax ™ if you can afford it?
It´s a resounding yes!
If you test it, please let me know your thoughts. Or how you think drugstore brands compare to high-end skin-care products.
