With a little over a month until the anniversary of the death of Jenni Rivera, people are still wondering how the family is coping with the loss of the late Mexican-American singer.

Univision had the opportunity to speak with Chiquis Rivera at a charity event about what is going on with the family almost a year after Jenni’s death and whether they will sell the house.

How the Riveras are coping

The house remains an important connection to the Rivera family as it hold all the memories and the items that once belonged to the singer.

Jenni Rivera’s room remains untouched, exactly how the late singer left it the last time she spent the night there. Chiquis said it was left “exactly how she left it, her bed, her pajamas where she left them, her clothes, her shows – everything the way my mom left it.”

The youngest member of the family Johnny, is having the hardest time with the loss of Jenni and is attending therapy twice a week. Chiquis told Univision that he is watching concerts of Jenni on YouTube and listening to music from her as a way to cope.

The estate

Despite the rumors at the beginning of the year suggesting the house would go up for sale Chiquis made it clear on the ‘El Gordo y La Flaca” interview that  “right now we are not planning on selling the house.”

The 9,527-square-foot Encino estate was left to Jenni’s children. The house — which looks more like a palace — which Rivera purchased in 2008, has seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. The home was purchased for $3.3 million. It sits on 4 acres and has a large grassy lawn, pool and entertainment patio that includes a spa and waterfall, according to Latin Times.

Chiquis Rivera to play her mother in upcoming movie

Chiquis Rivera will make her film debut as her mother in the upcoming biopic on the life of “La Diva de la Banda.”

Chiquis officially confirmed to Univision that she was given the green light on the role after actresses such as Angelica Vale, Alicia Machado and Jennifer Lopez were considered for the role of Jenni. The whole Rivera family is offering their support and have said they are on board with this film.

Chiquis will bring life to Jenni at the peak of her career, according to Univison. In preparation for her role, Chiquis has been taking acting and singing classes.
