Wild child Kat Von D, known for her tattoos and free spirited attitude, has landed on the November cover of Latina magazine.
Von D rose to fame on the reality show “Miami Ink,” which was followed by her own TLC show “L.A. Ink.” She has create a brand for herself that stretches to her own Sephora makeup and fragrance line, penning two New York Times Best Sellers to heading her tattoo shop, High Voltage Tattoo, in West Hollywood, Calif.
The celebrity tattoo artist talks to Latina magazine about a few failed relationships along with her upcoming rock album. She also surprises us by showing off a softer side than we are used to seeing. She mentions her future goals and how some of those include writing another book and even releasing a documentary that she’s been working on for over three years.
As far as her three failed relationships with former fiancé Joel Zimmerman (DJ Deadmau5), Jesse James and Nikki Sixx, Von D has no regrets except for one: wasting her time when she could have been finishing her album.
“I get a bad rep for being constantly in and out of relationships, when in reality if you look at my timeline it’s not really the case. I’m very good at being aware of my weaknesses, [but] what I’m not good at oftentimes tends to land in the romance department,” said Von D about calling off her engagement to tattoo artist DJ Deadmau5 this summer.
The Mexican-born beauty also talks about when she first got into makeup and her new line with Sephora.
“Makeup to me is an art form. It’s one of the perks of being a girl,” said Von D.
Kat Von D: Proud to be Latina
In a recent interview with Mario Lopez, he asked what was the one thing that makes her most proud about being Latina and her response was inspiring.
“When I look at the history of art, if you look at everything from old sculptures in Mexico to revolutionary art in the ’50’s, women are goddesses and they are strong and it’s something about Latin women that make the most inspiring females out there,” Von D told Lopez.
“To even be in the same sentence as that is probably the coolest thing.”
Kat Von D’s interview in the November issue of Latina magazine hits newsstands on October 15.
