Gloria Estefan is excited for ‘The Standards’
The Cuban American icon started at Sony Music back when she was in Miami Sound Machine and later sticking with them through her years of success. She has returned with plans to create music along with a diverse plateful of new ideas and projects.
Gloria is producing “The Standards”, an album with a large music collection, due out this fall. The album will include songs that have a connection to her life, selected by the Latina herself.
These songs will include “The Way You Look Tonight” and “Good Morning Heartache”.
She even took a song by iconic tango artist Carlos Gardel, “El dia que me quieras“, and developed it into an English version, writing “The Day You Say You Love Me”, which happened to be her wedding song to 19-time Grammy Award winner Emilio Estefan. Emilio and Grammy Award-winning pianist Shelly Berg helped produced “The Standards”.
“It only takes one word to recognize her magnificent voice. Gloria is one-of-a-kind in any language, in any genre. She sings better every day,” Afo Verde, chairman and CEO of Sony Music Entertainment for the Latin Region, Spain and Portugal, stated in a press release.
“Dearest Gloria, welcome to the place that always was and always will be your home, Sony Music. We are honored, happy and thank you for your trust. The best is yet to come.”
Estefan is a seven-time Grammy-award winning singer, songwriter and actress and is known as one of the most successful and influential recording artists in the world. She has reached sales of over 100 million globally and has 38 No. 1 hits across Billboard charts. Known not only for hits in English such as “Conga”, “Get On Your Feet” and “Turn The Beat Around”, Estefan has also been incredibly successful in Spanish, topping the charts with hits such as “Con los Años Que Me Quedan” and “Mi Tierra“. Her music has even granted her an Oscar nomination with “Music of My Heart”, featuring N’Sync. Gloria also became the first female artist to debut a song at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart.
Being back on board with the Sony family and having projects on the way could only mean great things for Gloria Estefan, her career and her fans.
