When Eva Longoria is not helping raise money for President Obama and the Democratic party, she is making movies.
She recently wrapped up filming on her latest project, “Frontera.” The film is about a sheriff’s wife who is killed in a robbery by a Mexican man that has illegally crossed into the country.
The independent film “Frontera” was filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico in December and co-stars Ed Harris and Michael Pena. The film was said to have employed 40 actors from the area.
“We are pleased to bring our project to the state of New Mexico. It is a great location for this film,” producer Eric Williams said.
In November Longoria tweeted a photo of herself and Pena from the set of “Frontera”, with this caption:
Eva Longoria juggles film ‘Frontera’ and premiere of TV shows
This isn’t the only indie-project she’s worked on lately. The 38-year-old actress also directed and starred in the short film “Out of the Blue” as part of Canon’s “Project Imagin8i0n” last month.
While “Frontera” is in post production, Eva Longoria is working behind the camera on two television shows. She is the executive producer and host of an NBC dating show called “Ready for Love,” where matchmakers help three men find their one and only. Longoria “handpicked” each of the contestants.
They are “not only handsome and successful, but generous, kind and sweet human beings. … They’ll forever be friends in my life,” she says of the three men contestants on the reality show, reports the Associated Press. “Ready for Love” will premiere on premiere Sunday, March 31 at 8 p.m.
Longoria joined “Desperate Housewives” creator Mark Cherry in “Devious Maids,” as an executive producer.
The show is an American adaptation to a Mexican telenovela called “Ellas son la Alegria del Hogar”, that tells the story of five Latina maids who work for the well-to-do in Beverly Hills, but have ambitions of their own. Actresses Ana Ortiz, Judy Reyes, Dania Ramirez and Roselyn Sanchez will star in “Devious Maids.” (The portrayal of Latinas as maids had some critics fuming, read about that here.)
The show, which was originally piloted for ABC, will air on Lifetime this year.
