Penelope Cruz is pregnant, sources confirm. The New York Post reported that the 38-year-old actress is “around three months” pregnant.
The Vicky Cristina Barcelona actress gave birth to her first child, son Leonardo, in January 2011, six months after she and Bardem, 43, tied the knot at a friend’s home in the Bahamas.
Cruz spoke about her experience as a first-time mom in an interview with Vogue back in June 2011. “From the first second, you feel so much love,” Cruz said. “It is a revolutionary experience,” she added. “That’s the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment, when you see that face, you are transformed forever.”
Penelope Cruz and sister Monica Cruz are pregnant
Just a few weeks ago, her sister, Monica Cruz, also announced she is expecting her first child via an anonymous sperm donor. Monica has been open about expecting a baby, sharing her news on her blog for the Spanish newspaper El Pais in a post titled “My Life’s Dream.”
“So I’ve decided to talk about it: I have resorted to artificial insemination in order to get pregnant,” wrote Monica, 35, noting that although she would have preferred to find her dream partner, it came down to timing. Monica, who is an actor and dancer, also expressed her gratitude to “those anonymous donors that help so many women, to achieve their dreams.”
“A 40-year-old woman is very young and she feels very young but the maternity thing goes another way,” she wrote. “It is measured with another clock that unfortunately we do not control. I’ve become very informed on the subject. It turns out that after 37 the possibilities of becoming pregnant decrease at an alarming rate.”
