Actor Michael Clarke Duncan, best known for his role in The Green Mile, has suffered a heart attack while in his Woodland Hills, California home. According to the Daily News, he was rushed to the hospital approximately at 2 a.m on Friday, after receiving CPR from his girlfriend until paramedics arrived.
“According to doctors, Michael Clarke Duncan suffered a myocardial infarction early this morning,” said publicist Joy Fehily in a statement to the press. “He is now stable and we look forward to his full recovery.”
Duncan, who weighs 325 pounds, was found by girlfriend Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, who revived him using life-saving techniques, something TMZ called “miraculous” given the actor’s weight. His medical emergency—myocardial infarction—is better known as a heart attack, and occurs when a piece of the heart becomes damaged or dies.
The actor was taken to a Los Angeles hospital where sources say he was stabilized and currently remains on a ventilator. According to TMZ, Duncan is “fighting like a mutha” and is doing well, breathing above the rate of the respirator. He is currently still sedated, and doctors are unsure what his condition will be once he gains full consciousness.
Sources say the actor is expected to make a full recovery, and the chance of paralysis or permanent damage is not likely but cannot be confirmed at this time.
Duncan, though easily recognizable in his The Green Mile role aside Tom Hanks, has appeared in motion picture features such as Sin City, Planet of the Apes, Armageddon, and The Scorpion King.
